histidine ammonia-lyase

histidine ammonia-lyase
his·ti·dine am·mo·nia-ly·ase (hisґtĭ-dēn ə-moґne-ə liґās) [EC] an enzyme of the lyase class that catalyzes the deamination of histidine to urocanate, the initial step of histidine catabolism. Deficiency of the enzyme, an autosomal recessive trait, causes histidinemia. Called also histidase.
