hippocampus proper
hippocampus proprius [TA] the tightly curved region of the hippocampus between the dentate gyrus and the subiculum. Called also cornu ammonis [TA alternative] and Ammon's horn. The term is often used more broadly to denote the entire hippocampus (q.v.).
