greasy heel

greasy heel
swelling and seborrheic dermatitis in the region of the fetlock and pastern on the back of a horse's leg, with formation of cracks in the skin and excretion of oily matter, usually due to prolonged standing in wet or unsanitary quarters. A similar condition occurs in cattle. Called also grease, grease-heel, and scratches.
