gou·siek·te (goo-sēkґte) [Afrikaans “rapid disease”] a condition in sheep and cattle marked by myocarditis, dilatation, and heart failure, caused by eating any of several poisonous plants including species of Pavetta and the shrub Vangueria pygmora.
