gat·i·flox·a·cin (gat″ĭ-flokґsə-sin) a fluoroquinolone antibacterial effective against many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria; administered orally and intravenously as the sesquihydrate in the treatment of bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, acute sinusitis, community-acquired pneumonia, gonorrhea, pyelonephritis, and urinary tract infections due to susceptible organisms.
