HIV-related diarrhea diarrhea in immunocompromised persons infected with the human immunodeficiency virus; it may result from opportunistic infection of the intestine by a fungus, protozoon, bacteria, or virus; from side effects of drug therapy, especially with antibiotics; or from disease processes such as HIV enteropathy.
