desmose

desmose
des·mose (desґmōs) [Gr. desmos band, ligament] a filament, fibril, or strand connecting intranuclear (centrodesmose) or extranuclear (paradesmose) basal bodies during mitosis; seen especially in certain protozoa (e.g., Dientamoeba fragilis). The terms desmose, centrodesmose, and paradesmose have been used synonymously by some authorities.
