an·thra·lin (anґthrə-lin) [USP] an anthraquinone derivative that reduces DNA synthesis and mitotic activity in hyperplastic epidermis, restoring the normal rate of epidermal cell proliferation and keratinization; used topically in the treatment of psoriasis. Called also dithranol.
