an·is·in·di·one (an″is-in-diґōn) an orally administered indanedione anticoagulant, used when a coumarin derivative cannot be used. It acts by inhibiting the hepatic synthesis of vitamin K–dependent coagulation factors (prothrombin and factors VII, IX, and X) and proteins C and S.
