Comamonas

Co·ma·mo·nas (ko″mə-moґnəs) [L. coma lock of hair + Gr. monas unit, from monos single] a genus of gram-negative bacteria, commonly found in soil and water, of the family Comamonadaceae, consisting of straight or slightly curved, aerobic, chemo-organotrophic, oxidase- and catalase-positive rods or spirilla, occurring singly or in pairs; most species are motile by polar or bipolar tufts of flagella. Comamonas spp., particularly C. testosteroґni (formerly Pseudomonas testosteroni), are rare opportunistic pathogens. The type species is C. terrigeґna.
