a radioactive isotope of cobalt, atomic mass 58, having a half-life of 71.92 days and decaying in the form of electron capture, positrons (energy 0.48 MeV), and gamma rays (energy 0.811 MeV); used together with 57Co in a test of intestinal vitamin B12 absorption.
