extracranial/intracranial bypass
anastomosis of the superficial temporal artery to a branch of the middle cerebral artery on the brain surface to improve collateral blood flow that has been reduced by occlusion or stenosis of the internal carotid or middle cerebral artery. Called also EC/IC b.
