aspartate carbamoyltransferase
as·par·tate car·bam·o·yl·trans·fer·ase (ə-spahrґtāt kahr-bam″o-əl-transґfər-ās) [EC 2.1.3.2] an enzyme activity of the trifunctional CAD protein; it is a transferase that catalyzes the formation of carbamoylaspartate from carbamoyl phosphate and aspartate in the first committed step in pyrimidine biosynthesis. Called also aspartate transcarbamoylase.
