inclusion body myositis
a progressive type of myositis that primarily involves muscles of the pelvic region and lower limbs, usually seen in older people; the muscles are infiltrated by mononuclear inflammatory cells, sarcoplasmic vacuoles, masses of filaments and filamentous microtubules, and sometimes eosinophilic bodies.
