- cor·ti·co·rel·in ovine tri·flu·tate (kor″tĭ-ko-relґin) an analogue of human corticotropin-releasing hormone; both stimulate release of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) from the anterior pituitary, which in turn stimulates cortisol production in the adrenal cortex. It is used as a diagnostic aid to distinguish between pituitary and ectopic production of ACTH in patients with ACTH hypersecretion; administered intravenously.
