sylvian syndrome

sylvian syndrome
sylvian aqueduct syndrome impairment of vertical gaze, retraction nystagmus, convergence nystagmus, convergence spasms, and poor or absent reaction of the pupils (which are usually of normal size) to light or near vision. It is caused by a neoplasm, inflammation, or vascular lesion adjacent to the periductal gray matter of the aqueduct of Sylvius. Called also Koerber-Salus-Elschnig s. and retraction nystagmus.
