submandibular space

submandibular space
a potential space of the neck bounded by the oral mucosa and tongue anteriorly and medially; the superficial layer of the deep cervical fascia laterally, and the hyoid bone inferiorly; it comprises two spaces, the sublingual and submaxillary spaces, divided by the mylohyoid muscle.
