sarcoglycan

sarcoglycan
sar·co·gly·can (sahr″ko-gliґkan) any of a family of transmembrane glycoproteins of the sarcolemma, constituting a subcomplex of the dystrophin-glycoprotein complex that associates with dystrophin and mediates muscle membrane stability. It includes α-, β-, γ-, δ-, ε-, and ζ-sarcoglycans, with the α- form being the most common. Mutations in sarcoglycans have been linked to various types of muscular dystrophy and cardiomyopathy.
