pra·na·ya·ma (prah″nə-yahґmə) [Sanskrit prana, q.v.] according to ayurveda, breath control, occurring as one of the eight limbs of raja yoga (see yoga); it is used as a means of controlling the energy within the body and the mind and acts as a vitalizing and regenerating force for increasing oxygen exchange that can be used for physical healing.
