a group of lymph nodes situated behind the pericardium in relation to the esophagus and thoracic aorta, which receive lymph from the esophagus, pericardium, diaphragm, and lungs and pass efferent vessels mainly to the thoracic duct and sometimes to the tracheobronchial lymph nodes.
