malignant arteriolar nephrosclerosis a rare form of arteriolar nephrosclerosis affecting all the vessels of the body, especially small renal arteries and arterioles, often associated with malignant hypertension and hyperplastic arteriolosclerosis. It may occur without previous hypertension or superimposed on benign hypertension or primary renal disease, especially glomerulonephritis, benign nephrosclerosis, or pyelonephritis. Called also hyperplastic arteriolar n. and Fahr-Volhard disease.
