pleuroperitoneal folds
a pair of crescent-shaped ridges that originate along the lateral body walls of in the fifth week of embryonic development and project into the caudal ends of the pericardioperitoneal canals to divide the pleural cavities from the peritoneal cavity; they later develop into the pleuroperitoneal membranes.
