equulosis

equulosis: equu·lo·sis (ek″wə-loґsis) [L. equulus a foal + -osis] actinobacillosis in horses and sometimes pigs, usually seen in the first few weeks of life, involving infection with Actinobacillus equuli. Symptoms in foals are purulent arthritis, synovitis, and enteritis, often with kidney abscesses and death; in piglets the symptoms are septicemia, fever, listlessness, and often death. When foals show extreme prostration, the condition is called sleepy foal disease.
